Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated person to join our in-house door shop at Port Alberni Windsor Plywood. We offer customers and contractors full service door service installation including retrofits, replacements and new build door packages.
This role involves working both in the workshop as well as on-site installs. Projects range from a simple door replacement in a character home to a full package for a new house build.
Our experienced door shop carpenter will teach everything you need to know to use our tools, machine doors and installation. Candidates should be comfortable with heavy lifting and working in physically demanding environments. This position offers an opportunity to advance with responsibility and pay.
Responsibilities
- Install residential and commercial doors, frames, and hardware
- Measure openings and verify installation requirements
- Remove and replace existing doors and related components
- Install weatherstripping, thresholds, trim, and finishing materials
- Operate power tools and installation equipment safely
- Maintain a clean and organized job site
- Customer service including helping a customer choose a new door and scheduling installation appointments
- Administrative tasks such as ordering doors and components
- Scheduling your time to accommodate customer installations and deliveries
- Assisting our contractors with full house door packages in a timely and competitive means
Qualifications
- Previous experience installing doors, windows, millwork, or related construction experience preferred
- Ability to read and interpret measurements accurately
- Familiarity with hand and power tools
- Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Ability to lift and carry heavy materials safely
- Strong problem-solving skills and positive attitude
