Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Shipping Supervisor to oversee our shipping operations. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring that all shipments are processed efficiently and accurately, while leading a team of shipping personnel. This position requires strong organizational skills, an eye for detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Duties
- Supervise daily shipping operations to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment.
- Manage and train shipping staff, fostering a collaborative team environment.
- Utilize warehouse management systems (WMS) to track inventory and shipments effectively.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance shipping processes and reduce errors.
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth logistics and distribution operations.
- Maintain compliance with safety regulations and company policies during shipping activities.
- Perform heavy lifting as needed to assist with loading and unloading shipments.
- Generate reports using AS400 and Microsoft Word/Outlook for tracking performance metrics.
Experience
- Proven experience in a supervisory role within warehouse distribution or logistics is preferred.
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems and AS400 software is advantageous.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Experience in team management, including training and performance evaluation of staff.
- A commitment to continuous improvement practices in operational processes.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including heavy lifting, as part of the job requirements.
