Job title: Cost Accountant

Status: Contract position (maternity leave coverage)

Duties and Responsibilities
- Reporting to the Controller, the Cost Accountant provides financial and analytical support to the plant management.
- Ensures data integrity of the plant’s production and financial reporting in accordance with established corporate standards and requirements
- Provide cost forecasting, controls and the development and continuous improvement of financial procedures and processes in both the Finance and Operations functions.
Qualifications
- University degree in Accounting or Finance
- Certified Professional Accounting Designation, or nearing completion
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the job typically acquired through 4 or more years of related experience
- Experience with the standard costing process
- Must be able to adapt to new and different computer programs and software to enable efficient data gathering and analysis
- Excellent problem-solving ability, attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to research, compile, analyze and interpret data
- Good written, verbal communication and collaborative skills
- Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office products
- Ability to analyze and reconcile complex accounts and reserves
- Ability to work independently under minimal supervision
- Knowledge JDE system preferred
