Atkinson Construction is actively recruiting applicants for General Labourer and Carpenter positions in Watson Lake, Yukon to assist with a new commercial construction project.
Tasks/Abilities
- Help move project forward in steady manner to hit deadlines, performance and quality goals.
- Advise supervisor of Work done by Sub trades and ACL staff onsite.
- Notify appropriate parties of issuing arising onsite or possible issues that may arise.
- Act as secondary site contacts if required.
- See to it that site is kept clean and safe for all personal on a daily basis
- Enforce Safety rules and regulations set out by Atkinson Construction Ltd and OHS to the best of your abilities
- Help fill out safety reports (daily or otherwise) and daily site records (if required) and provided to supervisor for submission to office for records and review.
- Monitor first aid supplies onsite, (if something was used it will need to be replaced) if nothing available please request supplies from Supervisor.
- Help Coworkers develop both safe work practices and skills.
- Help with orientations of new trades or contractors onsite as laid out in ACL’s Safety program. If you see a trade onsite as if they have been orientated and if not inform a supervisor of this.
- Attend meetings for Safety and Progress meetings for daily or project goals as required.
- If last to leave site ensure site is secure. Help arrange or provide access for Trades
- Help monitor equipment onsite for, Maintenance, safety, or other concerns. If someone is operating equipment unsafely tell them to stop and advise a supervisor. Be aware of our ability to properly and safety run equipment. (request training for equipment operation if you can’t safely or properly operate it)
- Help train or complete tasks onsite.
- Issuing of Violations or Warning as necessary (subcontractor or people onsite)
Skills/Traits Required (and/or willing to learn)
- Read blue prints- (if unsure request clarification for supervisor)
- Brick Veneer installation
- Snow Removal
- Demolition
- Be able to wood frame
- Interior and Exterior wood work (kitchen millwork, trims, exterior paneling)
- Form work for Concrete (Grade beams, sidewalks, aprons, slabs, etc)
- Rebar Layout and Tying of rebar
- Hoarding or and heating of Building and concrete work
- Equipment operation
- Concrete work- Finishing, placing, Preparation
- Installation of Hardware, doors, Washroom accessories, Handicap requirements
- Working with others to complete tasks
- Help set up temporary Site Setup of Lighting, power, heat, Air movement
- Valid Driver’s license (with drivers abstract, if driving company vehicles)
- Communication with supervisors and Trades
- If unaware of what’s included and not included in the project contracts, request details from Supervisor who will get answer.
- Inform supervisors of materials required, and or items that will be required to complete current and future tasks onsite.
- Installation and of Thermal and moisture systems onsite
- Wall liner and roof metal systems
- If you notice something that seems may be incorrectly installed or need more work/attention (over entire project) inform your supervisor.
- Fire Caulking and Fire Separation and installation

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00-$37.00 per hour
