Position Summary and Responsibilities
Responsible for supervising, planning and executing lab and field system testing for mobile and airborne LIDAR (laser) products as well as the delivery and training to an international client base. This includes supervising survey operations staff and overseeing pilots and related aviation contractors.

Supervise survey operations staff by selecting, orienting, coaching, monitoring, training and developing growth opportunities
Address conflicting priorities, resource conflicts and other operational hurdles.
Enforce company health and safety standards adhering to legal obligations and maintain a safe work environment for staff
As the primary contact for Lidar Aviation Services recruit and select pilots, approve invoices, prepare and submit annual Airworthiness reports, maintain the aircraft fleet by arranging and approving maintenance and repairs and submit reports summarizing the operations.
Provide survey operations and planning services to production, engineering and service departments as well as to the company’s international client base.
As the SME (Subject Matter Expert) drawing on the specialized knowledge of Teledyne Optech technology, carry out the planning, design, implementation, standardization, structure and development of specialized technical product training materials for internal staff and for delivery to customers.
Use professional judgement to identify, define and develop an understanding of any technical product issues, and drive complex problem resolution with support of others as required.
Prepare and analyze data obtained from LIDAR scanning, analysis, calibrating, evaluating, validating, interpreting and troubleshooting
Conduct lab, flight and drive survey operations tests for airborne and mobile laser and camera products
Participate in software, hardware and firmware development and testing
Implement the planning and execution of local field system testing events
Conduct lab integration and test activities in advance of field verification tests
Install and configure firmware and software as required
Develop, communicate and maintain weekly schedules; assign and monitor work; gather resources; ensure that survey operations staff adhere to assigned work schedules
Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures and processes; document and maintain team KPIs and seek continuous improvement
Document and update manuals, processes, knowledgebase articles and procedures. Working with other SMEs create ‘Best Practice’ documentation.
Travel to client locations to delivery technical product training to customers. As part of support or pre-sales activities, may be asked to deliver software and webinar demonstrations and assist in ‘Q&A’ sessions customized to the specific technical needs of the customers and their planned use of the product.
Bachelor or Master’s degree in Civil or Geomatic Engineering, Land Surveying, GIS or related field; or equivalent experience
Related working experience with geospatial products
Familiar with Teledyne Optech products and the industry
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills
Strong sense of urgency, continuous improvement and initiative.
Valid Driver’s License and Passport
Previous leadership experience preferred

International travel up to 25% of the time
Ability to work in a team environment and with cross functional groups across the company
Able to lift and travel with equipment greater than 23 kg (50lb.)
Comfortable flying as a passenger and performing duties in small aircrafts
