Job Overview
We are seeking a talented and passionate Baker/Pastry Cook to join our culinary team. This role involves preparing a variety of baked goods and pastries, ensuring high-quality presentation and taste. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation, baking, and decorating. The Baker/Pastry Cook will play a key role in maintaining food safety standards and ensuring the efficient operation of our bakery section.
Duties
- Prepare and bake a wide range of baked goods, including bread, cakes, pastries, and cookies.
- Decorate cakes and pastries with creative designs using cake decorating techniques.
- Assist with food preparation tasks such as mixing, portioning, and assembling ingredients.
- Ensure all baked items meet quality standards for appearance, flavor, and freshness.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and baking areas in compliance with food safety regulations.
- Package baked goods for retail or wholesale sale while ensuring proper presentation.
- Follow recipes accurately and adjust as necessary to meet customer preferences or specifications.
- Support the team during busy periods by assisting with cooking and food handling tasks as needed.
- Adhere to all food handling, safety, and sanitation procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
Experience
- Prior experience in a bakery, pastry shop, or restaurant setting is preferred.
- Skills in cake decorating and food presentation are highly desirable.
- Knowledge of food preparation techniques, baking processes, and kitchen equipment operation.
- Familiarity with food safety standards and proper food handling practices within the food industry.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with kitchen staff.
