The Edmonton Police Service, Communications Section is seeking one (1) well-organized PCB Scheduler. The responsibilities of this position include:

  • Scheduling PCB staff working in different roles and operating under different Collective Agreements on a proactive and reactive basis, which includes lunch schedules, obtaining, maintaining and updating availabilities and requests for time off on a daily basis.
  • Ensuring HR Scheduling software is kept up to date with accurate coding’s and input shifts.
  • Effectively using HR scheduling software and/or Excel to fulfill operational needs.
  • Liaising with Operational Supervisors to effectively manage day to day scheduling, vacation, ad hoc and time off requests.
  • Effectively communicating with PCB employees regarding schedule updates and changes.
  • Providing administrative assistance to the Operational Sergeant as required.
  • Other related duties as required.
Qualifications :
  • Completion of the twelfth (12th) school grade including business subjects related to word and information processing or completion of an appropriate certificate program from an approved business school/college, supplemented by training in basic microcomputer applications.
  • A minimum of two (2) years diversified word and information processing experience.
  • Exemplary interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Proven ability to empathize with the complexity and difficulty of each staff member and/or operational needs.
  • Prior working experience scheduling a large group.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Experience with CARM or another HR Scheduling Software.
  • Knowledge of CSU52 and EPA collective agreements would be an asset.
  • Experience combining strong interpersonal skills with analytical problem-solving abilities.
  • Detail orientated, adaptable and customer-focused team player.
  • Must be self-directed and able to manage time and priorities.
  • Applicants may be tested.
  • THE EDMONTON POLICE SERVICE WILL CONDUCT AN ENHANCED SECURITY CLEARANCE ON THOSE CANDIDATES WHO HAVE BEEN SHORT-LISTED.
Hours of Work:
40 hours per week, 10 hour shifts including weekends between 0730 – 1730 hours.

Salary Range:
21B, Salary Grade: 007, $22.36 - $27.76 (Hourly), $1,788.90 - $2,221.20 (Bi-Weekly), $46,689.77 - $57,973.32 (Annually). The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmonton that expired on December 22, 2018.
