Baker Hughes Incorporated has an opening for a Mechanical Assembly Technician based in our 90th Avenue SE, Calgary, Alberta location. The Mechanical Assembly Technician will be responsible for the assembly and testing of Pipeline Inspection tools and their associated components

  • Assembly and maintenance of various components, equipment and tools
  • Perform functional testing on assemblies as well as tests required by the customer’s criteria
  • Operates test equipment ensuring settings and calibration are in compliance with engineering standards
  • Decommission and cleaning of tool assemblies and conducing analysis of wear and abuse
  • Refurbishment of tool sub-assemblies such as brush blocks, backing bars and wheels
  • Administrative tasks including documentation of analysis, repairs, test results etc. as well as preparation of assemblies for shipment
  • The reading and understanding of mechanical drawings
  • Pulling items from inventory and assisting in record keeping
  • Creating bin locations for inventory items.
  • Assisting with part identification and allocation in a warehouse environment.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Previous work experience in a manufacturing environment or machine shop
  • Excellent work ethic with the ability to work with minimal supervision and self-driven to complete task timely and accurately
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude, either through specific job experience or by way of hobby - such as automobile mechanics, motorcycle restoration, aviation hobbyist, etc.
  • Ability to read and interpret blue prints and schematics
  • Excellent communication and interaction skills along with the ability to work well with others as well as an individual.
  • Ability to drive a forklift.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Electrical or Mechanical Technical diploma would be an asset
  • General knowledge of pipeline operations
  • Previous experience with mechanical assembly in a fabrication facility or machine shop
  • Oscilloscope use and electrical testing skills would be an asset
  • Good computer skills including experience with programs such as MS Office and AutoCAD
  • Experience or awareness of ORACLE.
