WorkSafeNB is accepting applications for a casual position, 35 hours per week while on assignment, of adjudicator in Grand Bay-Westfield, New Brunswick.

Reporting to the Team Lead, Adjudication Services, you will review decisions for all new lost time claims and act as the principal decision maker for those claims. You will manage the medical rehabilitation plan for claims, having duration of 6 weeks or less within the Workers' Compensation legislation, and the policies/guidelines of the Commission, facilitating access to all services as required. You will also be responsible to bring complex case issues, policy and directive interpretation issues, and abuse, misrepresentation or fraud issues to the attention of the Resource Manager, Intake & Adjudication, for guidance and resolution. Financial duties you will hold include calculation and authorization of loss of earnings benefits and medical aid expenses and issuing permanent physical impairment awards as per the direction of the Medical Advisor. You will also verify and authorize cost allocations and transfers and identify overpayments and assist in their recovery. You will be accountable for measures taken and expenditures made, as required, in order to support the injured worker's rehabilitation and assist in lessening or removing barriers resulting from their injuries and assist in a safe and early return to work.

As the successful candidate, you possess a minimal education of a 1-year diploma/certificate in Business, Medical Secretary, Nursing or related field and have six years of relevant work experience in a business environment, such as calculations of benefits or wages, finance, payroll, policy research, analysis, etc. An equivalent combination of greater education, combined with less work experience may be considered. The ability to work within MS Office Suite is essential. Knowledge of the claims process is an asset, along with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Written and spoken competence in English and in French is required.
