We are currently recruiting for a Global Cloud Architect to join our team in Waterloo, ON.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the global delivery of solutions using Azure IaaS and PaaS technologies within a DevOps environment. Working closely with those responsible for the delivery of solutions from infrastructure, development and data. The primary responsibility to ensure the full lifecycle of infrastructure support primarily within Azure cloud space is provisioned for the demands of solution delivery via DevOps. Secondary responsibility will be to constantly review, suggest and where agreed implement process and solution improvements whilst respecting security, governance and change management requirements. Expect to work closely with those responsible for solution delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Development, Operations, Enterprise Architecture and Security teams to ensure alignment of the cloud strategy and architecture with business objectives and requirements

Positively contribute to technical discussions and working groups to ensure best practice

Implement and maintain cloud infrastructure, services, and applications, using automation tools and frameworks, such as Terraform

Monitor and troubleshoot cloud performance, availability, and security issues, using tools and metrics, such as CloudWatch

Optimize and enhance cloud efficiency, scalability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness, using techniques and methods, such as load balancing, auto-scaling, caching, etc.

Champion the team’s vision, strategy, policies and capability with Corporate and Business IT leadership

Work with Corporate and Business IT leadership and trusted partners to set the long term strategic direction for cloud services and best practices

Establish SLAs with partners and vendors
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in cloud computing and architecture in either AWS or Azure
-
Completion of a college or university bachelor degree in information systems/technology or equivalent in education and/or combination of work experience.

AWS and/or Azure certification preferred
-
Strong knowledge and skills in cloud technologies and platforms, such as EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, VPC, SNS, SQS, CloudFormation, etc. for AWS; or VM, Storage, Functions, SQL, VNet, Event Grid, Service Bus, ARM, etc. for Azure

Extensive knowledge and demonstrable experience of deploying and supporting AWS or Azure (preferably both)

Ability to use Terraform to implement new and support existing infrastructure as code deployments Extensive knowledge of Azure DevOps implementation and support

Experience with migrating and running applications in public cloud environments including hands on experience

Strong knowledge of system analysis methods and techniques

Strong understanding of networking techniques, especially as related to cloud deployments

Understands technology at a detailed level but can express concepts simply to non-technical colleagues

Proven ability to work with multi-disciplined teams e.g. application developers, DevOps engineers, on premise infrastructure engineers etc.

Proven ability analyzing workflow and requirements so tasks can be effectively delegated and targets met
