Job Summary
The Human Resources Generalist plays a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources function. This position partners with leaders and employees to provide guidance and support across a wide range of HR activities, including employee relations, talent management, onboarding, safety, claims management, leave administration, compliance, performance management, and HR operations.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
. Provide guidance and support to employees and leaders on HR policies, procedures, and workplace matters.
. Build strong relationships with leaders to support employee engagement, performance management, organizational effectiveness, and workforce planning.
. Conduct workplace investigations and assist in resolving employee relations matters while ensuring compliance with applicable employment legislation and company policies.
. Foster a strong safety culture by working with leaders and employees on prevention methods. Partner with leaders to integrate safety into daily operations and employee engagement. Participate and lead workplace safety initiatives.
. Conduct full cycle recruitment, including job posting, interviews, criminal record checks and offers.
. Coordinate the full employee lifecycle, including onboarding, employment changes, and offboarding activities.
. Facilitate new hire orientation and ensure all employment documentation is completed accurately and on time.
. Administer leaves of absence and workplace accommodations in accordance with applicable legislation and company policies.
. Support benefit administration by responding to employee inquiries and coordinating enrollment and changes.
. Maintain accurate and confidential employee records within the HRIS and personnel filing systems.
. Prepare employment-related documentation including offer letters, employment changes, disciplinary documentation, and termination paperwork.
. Coordinate and track performance review processes while supporting leaders with performance management documentation and coaching.
. Partner with Payroll to ensure accurate employee information is maintained and processed.
. Support employee training, development, and engagement initiatives.
. Assist with policy development, implementation, and communication.
. Analyze HR processes and recommend improvements that enhance efficiency, consistency, and employee experience.
. Coordinates volunteer, social and fundraising initiatives for assigned facilities.
. Participate in HR projects, duties and organizational initiatives as assigned.
. Maintain strict confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive employee information.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Experience
. Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline preferred.
. Minimum of 2 years of progressive Human Resources experience in a Generalist or similar role.
. Experience supporting employee relations, performance management, leave administration, and HR operations.
. Experience working in a fast-paced, multi-site or operational environment is considered an asset.
. CPHR designation or progress toward obtaining a designation is considered an asset.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
. Working knowledge of applicable employment standards, employment, human rights and safety legislation.
. Strong understanding of HR best practices across the employee lifecycle.
. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
. Strong conflict resolution and problem-solving abilities.
. High level of professionalism with the ability to maintain confidentiality.
. Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS).
Compensation: $65,000 - $90,000
