JOB SUMMARY
This position supports an island-wide recycling program operated on behalf of RPM Eco, a leading plastics recovery and recycling company. The role follows a regular weekly collection route and has no predetermined end date. Employment is expected to continue as long as the recycling program and operational requirements remain in place.
We are seeking a dependable and safety-conscious Recycling Collector/Driver to support an established recycling collection program across Newfoundland and Labrador. Working Monday through Friday, the successful candidate will travel to automotive, industrial, and commercial locations to collect recyclable plastic containers used in industrial applications.
The position involves collecting bagged recyclables from customer locations, loading materials into an enclosed trailer, and transporting the collected materials for consolidation and further processing. This role combines driving, customer service, and physical work in a rewarding environmental services position that helps divert valuable materials from landfills and supports sustainable recycling practices throughout the province.
Travel is required throughout Newfoundland. When overnight travel is necessary, hotel accommodations and one meal per day are provided by the company.
KEY DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES
· Follow a scheduled island-wide collection route and complete assigned pickups efficiently and safely.
· Collect recyclable plastic containers from automotive garages and other participating customer locations.
· Lift and handle collection bags weighing up to 14 kg (30 lbs).
· Transfer collected materials into an enclosed trailer for transportation.
· Maintain accurate collection records and documentation as required.
· Transport collected materials to designated consolidation locations.
· Assist with unloading and transferring materials into larger transport vehicles when required.
· Conduct daily vehicle and trailer inspections and report any maintenance concerns.
· Ensure compliance with all company safety policies and transportation regulations.
· Maintain a professional and courteous relationship with customers at collection sites.
· Keep collection equipment, trailers, and vehicles clean and organized.
QUALIFICATIONS/ REQUIREMENTS
· Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
· Clean Driver’s Abstract
· Successful completion of a road test
· Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test
· Criminal Record Check required
· Ability to safely pull, back, and maneuver a 40-foot enclosed trailer in a variety of driving and customer site conditions
· Strong understanding of safe driving practices and transportation regulations
· Ability to work independently and manage long periods on the road
· Professional attitude, reliability, and strong work ethic
WHAT WE OFFER
· Wage is $21.50 per hour
