Shipping Coordinator
Our client is looking for a Shipping Coordinator to manage logistics, documentation, and transportation for their global operations in Scarborough, Ontario. This company has been a trusted supplier for the color cosmetic, health, beauty, and fragrance industries since 1991. Specializing in high-quality packaging solutions, they offer customized designs from concept to finished product, including plastic injection molding and glass components.
The role involves overseeing shipping operations, ensuring compliance with customs regulations, and optimizing transportation processes to support seamless global trade.

Responsibilities
- Prepare and manage complex export and import documentation, including Harmonized System (HS) tariff codes, landed cost calculations, and country of origin determinations
- Assist management with freight rate analysis and negotiations to secure cost-effective shipping solutions
- Recommend the optimal transportation modes, routes, and equipment for shipments
- Review and process freight invoices for accuracy and compliance
- Implement customer-specific requirements, such as internal reporting or customized transportation metrics
- Resolve logistics, import/export, or customer-related issues efficiently
- Collaborate with sales, purchasing, warehouse, planning, and accounting teams to integrate shipping processes
- Track and communicate shipment status with daily reports to corporate teams
- Ensure full compliance with import/export legislation and resolve discrepancies in documentation
- Identify and address inbound and outbound product discrepancies with responsible parties

Qualifications
- College diploma or equivalent in International Trade, Business, Freight Forwarding, or Supply Chain Management
- 3+ years of experience coordinating with shippers, forwarders, customs brokers, ocean carriers, and warehouses
- Knowledge of PO management and order placement with overseas suppliers and customers
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Experience in cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, or food industries is an asset
- Proficiency in SAP systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
- Knowledge of Canadian, U.S., and international customs requirements
- CIFFA or CCS certification is considered an asset
