Participation Lodge Grey-Bruce is a not-for-profit organization that strives to empower and enrich the lives of the individuals we support. Here at our Holland Centre location we have 6 supported individuals in ABI that require full care with varying disabilities. We have many faucets with which we connect with the community, but the acquired brain injury wing in Holland Centre is currently seeking permanent casual Support Workers to join our wonderful team! We are a very dedicated team, seeking to support and enrich the lives of those we support.
Qualifications:
- PSW/DSW certification (preferred)
- Ability to work as a team
- Possess compassion and patience
- Current CPR & First Aid certificate or willing to obtain (will provide training)
- A clean driver's abstract to be added to company insurance, if use of vehicles is required (successful applicants will be required to provide an up-to-date drivers abstract)
- Have a clear Vulnerable Sector Screen or willing to obtain
- Comprehensive Health Screen including Valid TB Test or willing to obtain
- Willingness to complete Medication administration training
What you will be doing:
The Lodge strives to enrich our residences' lives
through supporting individual choices, as well as helping them to reach their
goals. We work in their home and must treat it as such. We are looking for an
individual with experience, confidence, and resilience to provide guidance and
foster independence. This role will involve assisting individuals with all tasks,
activities, and outings of day-to-day life. Shifts are mostly 12-hour shifts, and
applicants must be able to work both day and night shifts.
- Provide a wide range of support for individuals following Individualized Support Plans (ISP)
- Assist with day-to-day needs
- Enhance the ability of the individual to lead a self-determining life.
- Assist clients with taking medications accurately and in accordance with agency policy and procedures
- Observes and implements appropriate actions to promote heathy living and prevent illness and accidents
- Use appropriate first aid/ safety procedures when responding to emergencies
- Assist individual in keeping and following through on all health appointments
- Collaborate with other services to provide dynamic and individualized community supports
- Support physical and communication developments, or other goals set by the individuals
