Our team at APEX Trials by Nutrasource are looking for part time casual Lab Technicians to join our team ! Hours will be flexible based on studies, and weekend availability would be a must!
Job Overview:
The primary responsibilities of the Lab Technician I relate to biological sample collection, processing, storage, and shipment as well as performing ECGs, vital signs, height and weight, etc. as needed for clinical studies.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Safely and efficiently collects blood samples from study participants via catheter or venipuncture, following all applicable safety procedures
- Obtains ECGs and vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse oximetry, respiration rate)
- Obtains weight and height measurements and where required, performs for BMI calculations
- Processes biological samples as per protocol or Lab Manual requirements
- Performs in-house screening and in clinic visit diagnostics such as drug screen panels, pregnancy tests, alcohol breathalyzer tests, etc.
- Performs study related tasks such as meal distribution, collection and monitoring, participant assembly, etc.
- Monitors participants during in-house confinement periods for protocol and SOP requirements such as physical restrictions, water restrictions, meals, fluid intake/output, etc.
- Prepares study related materials, such as labelled study tubes, participant clipboards and charts and ensures clinic and lab are prepared with required supplies
- Assists with calibration and maintenance of clinic site equipment per company SOPs
- Assists in set up and maintenance of the laboratory
- Maintains lab and clinic Equipment Inventory
- Ensures study participants are having the best possible experience while participating in studies conducted at the site
· Other duties as may be required and as training and experience allow

Education and Experience:
- Graduate of a Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) and/or Medical Laboratory Professional Association of Ontario (MLPAO) approved program
- Current license with CSMLS and/or MLPAO
· Experience in the nutraceutical and/or pharmaceutical industry is considered an asset

Pay: $22.00-$28.00 per hour
