About the Speech Team at The Crystal Ladder Learning Center
The Crystal Ladder Learning Centre (CLLC) is proud to be expanding to seek a Speech Language Pathologist (CASLPO Registered) and a qualified Communicative Disorders Assistant (CDA). At CLLC, the SLP department uses an holistic approach that foster fun and learning in a safe inclusive environment, to improve language and communication skills of neurodiverse learners (speaking and non-speaking children), aged between 2 – 15 years. The Crystal Ladder’s Speech & Language Pathology (SLP) Program is overseen by our Speech-Language Pathologist (S-LP), who along with a team of Communicative Disorder Assistant’s (CDA) facilitate the individualized speech therapy sessions and group sessions (during March and summer break).
Each learner’s intervention program begins with the SLP conducting assessments, and developing a personalized goal sheet. The goals are related to a variety of skills such as language delays, social-pragmatics, articulation and phonology, literacy and more. This is followed by the respective CDA working on the targeted goals for a block of treatment sessions. At CLLC, SLP engages in consistent direct and indirect supervision of all learners.
SLP and CDA jointly meet for:
- Goal update sessions
- Parent coaching sessions
- To implement, troubleshoot, and support augmentative alternative communication devices
- Multidisciplinary team and family meetings.
Job Overview
Responsible for assessment and treatment of pediatric language and communication disorders.
Key Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
- Conduct assessments, develop recommendations, and write reports
- Develop treatment plans and provide therapy as clinically recommended
- To meet with parents to keep them informed on progress/updates regarding the SLP intervention and to address any concerns.
- To work with administration, to ensure that all learners get their weekly speech sessions.
- Plan for seasonal camps, during march break and summer break
- Provide parent training as clinically recommended to facilitate carryover and
- generalization
- Provide consultation and potential training to other professionals in the center who are providing services for neurodiverse learners
- Participate in team meetings, discussions and collaborate on an interdisciplinary team
- To implement, troubleshoot, and support augmentative alternative communication devices (TouchChat, LAMP, Proloquo2Go, GoTalk Now, Flip-N-Talk, etc.)
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- CASLPO Registration required
- Masters Degree or equivalent in Speech Language Pathology
- 1 - 2 years of professional experience with pediatrics
- Transportation to Oakville, Stouffville and Woodbridge will be required.
- Ability to work in a multi disciplinary team
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal communication (verbal and written) and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative and be self directed, while collaborating and seeking direction appropriately
- Evidence of good performance history and attendance record
