This position is responsible for managing the business optimization group within the Brandt Group of Companies. The position involves developing and implementing with the input from the various areas in improvement strategy that is in-line with the overall long term corporate objectives. This position will oversee the application of LEAN methodologies including 5S, Value Stream mapping, and 6-Sigma to create a culture of continuous improvement that result in simplified, streamlined standardized workflow and business processes across the organization. This position requires highly developed planning and communication skills (both written and oral) in obtaining agreement and cooperation between multiple areas of the company.
The Lean Manager is responsible to create an environment where the other members of the business development group are able to personally grow and development their skill and talents.
Identify opportunities for process improvement throughout the Brandt Group of Companies.
Create the necessary standard, policies and procedures.
Take action and work with the appropriate managers to improve situations when lean activities have slipped.
Create an environment where personal growth and development is able to occur, by giving the necessary mentoring, coaching and feedback to people reporting to this position.
Insure developed metrics are meaningful to the area, easily reported and understood, and where possible are applied to other areas and divisions.
Insure the Brandt process change has the highest probability of success insuring the necessary elements (Documentation, Training, Signage, and Metrics).
Eliminate or reduce process related waste through the application of LEAN principles and related process improvement methodologies.
Ability to lead/facilitate education and information training sessions with business stakeholders and participants as required in order to allow for identification of potential process improvement initiatives.
Lead/facilitate meetings with various internal departments and stakeholders as needed to secure engagement and alignment on business workflow and process improvements.
Ensure standards, policies, and preferred work processes and practices are optimized in accordance with company operating philosophies and objectives.
Oversee develop of key training materials, documentation, and manuals as required.
Insure key deliverables from the group are in-line with corporate objectives.
Planning and scheduling the activities of the group as well as clarifying the roles and responsibilities in order to ensure tasks are resourced and optimally aligned around a best fit approach that is driven by function, effort, and expertise.
Create and monitor budget, approve expenditures up to authorization limit.
Experience in implementing lean within retail dealerships with preference to heavy equipment knowledge.
Deep understanding of manufacturing processes including both the shop floor and administrative activities.
A working knowledge, exposure, or strong interest in workflow, process mapping, or improvement techniques and tools including 5S, value stream mapping, root cause analysis, 6-Sigma, ISO, or other industry recognized techniques and tools.
Strong organizational and analysis skills to provide solutions to complex problems, set priorities, and work effectively to achieve goals and objectives with minimum supervision.
Ability to build rapport, establish credibility, and influence others to change.
In-depth understanding of corporate organizational structures, departments, and functional relationships.
A minimum of 10 years of lean related activities including ‘hands on’ experience in a quality process improvement related capacity including a role as either a 6-Sigma green belt, team lead, subject matter expert, or other similar quality related improvement initiative(s).
A result oriented strong work ethic
Willingness to travel, approximately 50% of time will be away from base location.
Experience in project management.
Specific Lean related Certification, Green Belt or higher.
Bachelor’s degree Science, Engineering or Business. Additional experience will be considered in lieu of the formal education.
Proven track record applying Lean best practices.
Problem solving skills and the ability to challenge existing processes.
A strong working knowledge of MS Office Suite including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel is required. A working knowledge of MS Project and Visio is preferred. Advanced knowledge and experience with software code programming will be considered an asset.
Well-developed communication skills to effectively communicate and present to individuals and larger groups.
