Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Equipment Operator to join our team for the remaining construction season. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely and efficiently transporting and operating various types of heavy machinery and equipment. This role requires attention to safety protocols, technical proficiency, and the ability to support grading, base, and paving operations.
Responsibilities
- Operate various heavy equipment such as Excavators, Loaders, Backhoe, Skidsteer, and Dozers.
- Transport various heavy equipment to various jobsites.
- Perform fine grading, ditching, and shaping of various roadway surfaces.
- Assist with excavation, base preparation, gravel placement, concrete preperation and pouring using heavy equipment.
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety
- Assist with automotive repair tasks as needed, including basic troubleshooting and minor repairs
- Work with ground crew and supervisors to meet project specifications
- Follow all safety guidelines and protocols to prevent accidents or injuries during equipment operation.
- Maintain accurate logs of equipment usage and maintenance activities.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Class 5 and 3 Drivers License is required.
- Minimum 2 Years of experience in road construction or similar environment.
- Proven ability to operate heavy machinery or similar equipment in a commercial setting.
- Strong understanding of road builidng processes.
- Experience with GPS / machine control systems is an asset.
- Ability to operate commercial vehicles safely and efficiently
- Ability to safely and efficiently transport various equipment to jobsites.
- Basic automotive repair skills for troubleshooting minor issues with equipment or vehicles is an asset.
- Strong understanding of safety standards related to heavy equipment operation and transportation.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely.
- Good communication skills for coordinating with team members and supervisors.
