Position Summary
Cooookies With Us is seeking a creative, experienced, and motivated Baker Lead to oversee daily bakery operations, production, inventory management, and team leadership. This is a hands-on leadership position requiring someone who leads by example, maintains high standards of quality and consistency, and helps create a positive and productive work environment.
We are looking for someone who not only excels in baking and production but also has a passion for creating and developing new products. The ideal candidate enjoys experimenting with flavors, developing seasonal offerings, and bringing fresh ideas to the bakery that enhance the customer experience and support business growth.
Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Team Development
- Lead by example through professionalism, accountability, and a strong work ethic.
- Supervise, support, and motivate bakery staff.
- Train and mentor team members on production procedures, quality standards, and food safety practices.
- Foster a positive, respectful, and collaborative work environment.
- Ensure team members follow company policies, procedures, and expectations.
Production & Quality Control
- Oversee daily production of cookies, baked goods, fillings, frostings, and other menu items.
- Prepare and bake products according to recipes and established standards.
- Ensure consistency in quality, taste, appearance, and presentation.
- Develop and manage production schedules to meet daily sales demands and catering orders.
- Monitor workflow and identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
Inventory Management
- Complete regular inventory counts and maintain accurate records.
- Monitor ingredient and supply levels and communicate ordering requirements.
- Minimize waste through effective production planning and inventory control.
- Ensure proper storage, labeling, and rotation of ingredients.
Catering & Special Orders
- Coordinate and oversee catering production and large-volume orders.
- Ensure all catering and special orders are completed accurately and on time.
- Plan production requirements for seasonal events, promotions, and special projects.
Product Development & Creativity
- Develop new cookies, baked goods, desserts, and seasonal menu offerings.
- Create and test new recipes that align with the bakery's brand and vision.
- Bring innovative ideas for products, flavors, and promotions.
- Assist in designing specialty products for holidays, catering, and community events.
- Stay informed on bakery trends and customer preferences.
- Take ownership of new product development from concept to launch.
Food Safety & Compliance
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work environment.
- Ensure compliance with all food safety regulations and company procedures.
- Follow and enforce proper food handling and sanitation practices.
QualificationsRequired
- Previous experience in a supervisory, leadership, or management role.
- Minimum 2–3 years of baking experience in a bakery, café, restaurant, or similar food production environment.
- Valid Food Handler Certificate.
- Strong knowledge of baking techniques, food preparation, and kitchen operations.
- Experience with inventory management and production planning.
- Ability to work independently and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred
- Diploma, certificate, or formal education in Baking, Pastry Arts, Culinary Arts, Food Service Management, or a related field.
- Experience managing catering production and large-volume orders.
- Experience creating recipes and developing new products.
- Experience training and mentoring staff.
