Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Purchasing Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a key role in managing our procurement processes and ensuring the timely acquisition of goods and services.
Key Responsibilities
- Procure materials, supplies, and equipment to support operations
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and agreements with suppliers
- Monitor inventory levels and initiate purchase orders as required
- Evaluate vendor performance and maintain strong, strategic relationships
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies to optimize costs and efficiency
- Collaborate with internal teams to forecast purchasing needs
- Assist in forecasting demand based on sales data, seasonality, and project pipelines
- Analyze purchasing trends and identify opportunities for cost savings and margin improvement
- Monitor supplier lead times and proactively mitigate risks related to delays or shortages
- Track market pricing trends for key materials to support strategic purchasing decisions
- Support the development and management of supplier contracts and purchase agreements
- Coordinate with logistics and warehouse teams to ensure timely delivery and receipt of goods
- Prepare and analyze purchasing reports, KPIs, and vendor performance metrics
- Identify and implement improvements to procurement processes and systems to enhance efficiency
- Maintain accurate records and track orders using ERP/purchasing systems
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Responsibilities may evolve over time in accordance with business needs and will remain consistent with the general scope and level of the position.
Qualifications:
- Post secondary education in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration, or related field
- Proven experience in procurement, sourcing, or vendor management within the construction, roofing or building envelope industry is a huge asset.
- Strong negotiation skills with the ability to secure favorable pricing
- Familiarity with ERP systems for purchasing activities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities both internal and with external manufacturers and vendors.
