Manager, Finance Airport Operations
Job Title: Manager, Finance Airport Operations
Reports to: Director, Finance
The Opportunity
The Manager, Finance Airport Operations is responsible for the maintenance and application of WAA’s financial controls, preparation and consolidation of WAA’s financial statements, budgeting and forecasting of operating expenses with all department leaders (excluding subsidiaries). The role is responsible for the management of day-to-day functions of the Finance Department (excluding subsidiary finance functions). The incumbent is responsible for the management oversight and guidance of the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable employees in the YWG and WAA corporate entities and has the Market Analyst as a dotted line report.
Responsibilities include:
- Provide input, guidance, fiscal and resource planning to WAA.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual company and consolidated financial statements and related reports.
- Manage the WAA and YWG corporate credit card portfolio and prepare operational budgets and review monthly variances for the same entities.
- Responsible for the accurate completion and filing of tax returns including GST, PST, foreign withholding tax and corporate income tax returns (excluding subsidiaries);
- Manage treasury functions, ensuring sufficient capital is available to meet obligations while ensuring excess capital is invested prudently.
- Liaise with external auditors and implement their recommendations.
- Responsible for building and maintaining relationships with relevant WAA stakeholders and has discretionary decision-making authority regarding matters of operational importance to WAA.
- Manage and provide guidance to direct reports, including hiring, training, developing, discussing performance, conducting appraisals, investigating and discussing matters that may lead to discipline or termination.
- Support the Director, Finance in the development of business strategies and plans to drive improvements to departmental efficiency and customer satisfaction.
- Track and enforce service level standards and key performance indicators related to relevant external service providers; and
- Participate in Monthly Management meetings, Corporate strategic planning and other leadership activities as required.
Selection Criteria include:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance with three years (minimum) of senior accounting or finance experience.
- Completion of Professional Accounting Designation (CA, CMA, CGA);
- Budgeting and cost management skills.
- Strong leadership skills with previous management experience outside of public practice.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional business partners to achieve results.
- Ability to motivate others to achieve goals and objectives in a time-sensitive environment.
- Resourcefulness and the ability to manage multiple initiatives with strong prioritization skills.
- Flexibility and willingness to take on additional or new responsibilities.
- Strong financial accounting skills (knowledge of IFRS) and how it pertains to the organization.
- Fundamental understanding of tax laws and how they pertain to the organization.
- Superior analytical, written, and oral communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Organized and detail oriented with good time management skills, with ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
- Technical aptitude and ability to learn and maximize the use of new software programs.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ability to sort and analyze large volumes of data.
- Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and experience drafting presentations; and
- High level proficiency in financial software systems.
