Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Senior Analyst, Tax and Accounting is responsible for assisting with tax and accounting activities within the Finance department. This role emphasizes maintaining high ethical standards and includes identifying tax savings and planning opportunities to optimize the company's tax position while ensuring compliance. Experience with US, international, and Canadian tax would be a significant asset.
Duties:
The duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Manage the corporate tax relationship between TCT and its advisors in all jurisdictions. This includes providing working papers and support, as well as helping to formulate tax strategies in current and new jurisdictions.
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors.
- Manage the indirect tax filings for the company, including a mix of internal preparation of GST and state tax returns, as well as managing advisors for this service.
- Work with the Director of Finance to formulate and implement tax policies that ensure compliance with laws and regulations in the jurisdictions in which we operate.
- Assist with transfer pricing documentation and compliance.
- Book tax entries.
- Assist with month-end journal entries and analysis.
- Assist with the preparation and reporting of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for internal and external reporting, including for the Board of Directors.
- Assist with the preparation of month-end balance sheet reconciliations.
- Managing tax risks and ensuring that the company’s tax position is optimized while remaining compliant with all relevant tax laws.
- Understand TCT’s HSE Policy and Manual and maintain a positive attitude towards the health and safety of yourself and your coworkers.
- Take ownership of HSE issues, demonstrating enthusiasm and support for HSE initiatives.
- Perform other duties as directed by the Director of Finance.
Skills and Requirements:
- University degree in business, preferably with an accounting major.
- Minimum of 5 years of related work experience.
- CPA designation or substantial completion of the CPA program would be preferred.
- Experience with US, international, and Canadian tax would be a significant asset.
- Strong knowledge of tax planning and the ability to identify and implement tax-saving opportunities.
- Ability to manage and streamline the company’s tax compliance matters.
- Experience with transfer pricing would be an asset.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and deliver against deadlines.
- High ethical standards in handling all tax and accounting matters.
- Willingness and ability to work with third parties and implement their advice into practical business solutions.
- Enthusiastic, self-motivated individual.
- Attention to detail in all areas of work.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with particular strength in Excel.
- Ability to adapt and learn new software; experience with any accounting software is an advantage.
- Good teamwork skills.
- Ability to always represent TCT in a positive and customer-focused manner.
