Licensed Practical Nurse - Long Term Care

Location: Beach Grove Home, Colville Manor, Prince Edward Home, Maplewood Manor, Margaret Stewart Ellis Home, Summerset Manor, Wedgewood Manor, Riverview Manor, Stewart Memorial Home
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), under the direction of a Registered Nurse, provides nursing care necessary for the comfort and well-being of the residents/patients. The LPN provides nursing care using a problem solving, person centered approach. The LPN practices as a collaborative member of an inter-disciplinary team providing quality nursing care based on the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. The LPN is responsible for developing and maintaining his/her own professional competency.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Successful completion of an approved course of study for Licensed Practical Nurses.
- Must be active or eligible for registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Prince Edward Island.
- Must have courses in health assessment, medical administration and pharmacology.
- Ability to work well under supervision as well as independently, when required.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team, requesting and accepting direction, as required.
- Demonstrate effective time management and organizational skills.
- Demonstrate good communication and judgment skills.
- Able to provide physical, psychosocial, emotional and spiritual care to the residents/patients.
- Demonstrate an alignment with Health PEI’s mission, vision and values; including honesty and integrity in personal and professional behaviour
- Current CPR/BCLS, TLR, WHMIS All Hazards Codes and annual recertifications
- Demonstrate a professional presence and model professional behaviour
- Knowledge of chronic illnesses required
- Applicants must be capable of sustained physical activity.
- A good previous work and attendance record.
Other Qualifications:
- Additional relevant education and experience will be considered an asset.

Salary Range: $32.42 - $38.67 per hour
Hours: 37.5/75 hours bi-weekly, with rotating shift , evenings & weekends.
External Candidates may be eligible to receive a $5,000 Nursing Incentive, a $5,000 Rural Incentive, up to $8,000 Student Loan Incentive and Relocation Assistance.
