Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and experienced Shop Manager specializing in Millwork to oversee daily operations within our manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, mechanical knowledge, and expertise in process improvement to ensure efficient production, quality standards, and continuous improvement initiatives. Duties
- Manage and coordinate all shop activities related to millwork manufacturing, including assembly, finishing, and quality control.
- Oversee the implementation of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement strategies to optimize workflow and reduce waste.
- Utilize ERP systems to plan production schedules, manage inventory levels, and streamline supply chain processes.
- Monitor production metrics and KPIs to ensure adherence to quality standards, safety protocols, and delivery deadlines.
- Lead process improvement initiatives by analyzing workflows, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing best practices for efficiency gains.
- Supervise shop personnel, assign tasks, provide training on machinery operation and safety procedures, and foster a culture of teamwork.
- Collaborate with procurement and logistics teams to ensure timely availability of materials and supplies for production needs.
- Conduct regular inspections of equipment and work areas to maintain safety standards and operational readiness.
- Support the integration of new manufacturing technologies and ERP systems to enhance productivity.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in manufacturing management, preferably within millwork or woodworking industries.
- Strong mechanical knowledge related to woodworking machinery, assembly processes, and equipment maintenance.
- Familiarity with ERP systems, and supply chain management tools.
- Demonstrated ability in process improvement methodologies such as lean manufacturing or continuous improvement initiatives.
- Knowledge of quality control standards and best practices for manufacturing environments.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams and drive operational excellence.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities.
- Prior experience with process optimization projects or implementing new technologies is highly desirable.
