Brief Description

One Permanent, Full-Time Position

Capital Power Corporation is currently seeking an innovative and results-oriented individual to join our Information Services team.

Capital Power uses SharePoint Online solution to provide a platform to enable our employees to collaborate, and it is a key driver in ensuring we have highly efficient business operations that deliver superior results. We are currently using the solution to deliver our Intranet, Project sites, Team site, Document & Records Management solutions

The Relationship Manager of SharePoint is accountable for maintaining business partnerships, managing a team of technical resources with an emphasis on delivering value added solutions, working with other areas within Information Services to ensure delivery and high availability of this critical platform. This includes both ensuring SharePoint Online and third-party related tools are maintained and supported

Key accountabilities of the Relationship Manager of SharePoint include:

Detailed Description

  • Working collaboratively with our business users to understand their requirements and translate them into efficient solutions that provide business value.
  • Working collaboratively with various IT teams to deliver a system solution to meet business needs
  • Championing the use of SharePoint in a simplified manner to deliver best business value.
  • Partnering with business led SharePoint governance committee to execute on the roadmap to enhance collaboration and productivity across the company.
  • Support the governance committee in developing, implementing and refining a roadmap for the SharePoint platform.
  • Managing multiple requests for enhancements or the addition of new functionality.
  • Providing day to day management of the SharePoint technical support team to ensure operational issues are resolved in accordance to predetermined SLA’s.
  • Ensuring that SharePoint is available to the stated availability service level and that support, and configuration requests are completed in a timely fashion.
  • Providing mechanisms to deliver SharePoint training and knowledge transfer to all users.
Job Requirements


  • Post- secondary degree in Business, Information Services or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience in designing or developing large scale IT applications.
  • 3+ years’ experience in business relationship roles
  • 3+ years’ experience managing staff, with progressively responsible leadership roles
  • 3+ years in working with third party system integrators and maintaining post project relationship for on-going support.
  • Experience in facilitating a governance body would be considered an asset
  • Understanding of application maintenance and support would be consider an asset but not a requirement
  • Understanding of the SharePoint platform, architectural model would be an asset but not a requirement
Technical Skills

  • Customer relationship skills, demonstrated responsiveness, analytical thinking, problem solving, and planning skills are required.
  • System integration experience, primarily with large, complex systems.
  • Strong knowledge of the Systems Delivery Life Cycle.
  • Ability to communicate highly technical information in a clear and concise manner to peers and business representatives.

  • Interpersonal: self-motivated, organized, customer focused detail-oriented and excellent communicator.
  • Group: problem solving, results driven and action-oriented when working on assigned tasks. Team player who promotes a culture of innovation and quality.
