The Faculty of Business & Information Technology invites applications for an Assistant Teaching Professor in the area of Information Technology to commence July 1, 2019. This position is subject to budgetary approval.

Applicants should possess a Masters or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, IT Security or a related field, a strong academic background, and strong knowledge in the fundamental aspects of computer science including algorithms, computer architecture, data structures, and programming. Industry certifications in networking and/or security such as CCNP, CEH, CISSP and VMware, strong background in modern networking and security technologies such as cloud and edge computing, data centres, Blockchain technology and such, or experience in the Game development industry, are strongly desired. In addition, relevant industrial experience, university level teaching experience, and experience in online and hybrid delivery are considered assets.

In keeping with our technology-enhanced learning environment utilizing laptop computers and wireless connectivity, strong computer skills are essential, and experience with Blackboard is an asset. In addition, a proven commitment to providing innovative and inclusive teaching strategies is required as is evidence of an ability to work in a collaborative environment. Excellent communication skills with an ability to maintain effective relationships with a range of faculty, staff and students are essential. This position is subject to budgetary approval.

Duties will include preparing and delivering lectures, tutorials and workshops, preparing and marking assignments, tests and examinations, responding to student inquiries, maintaining regular office hours, and invigilating tests and examinations. The duties will also include the technical support for teaching labs. The successful candidate will be expected to follow a 70% Teaching, 20% Service, and 10% Other workload each year.
