Red Rock is seeking to add a Research Associate to support the development and evaluation of tissue- based bone grafts. The research focus of this position is to perform various cell culture and biochemical assays, including enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA), in support of product development.
Duties & Responsibilities
The research associate will be responsible for:
1) processing bovine and human tissue
2) performing protein assays, enzymatic assays and ELISAs
3) performing cell culture assays
4) collecting data, performing simple analyses and drafting study reports
5) operating and maintaining various pieces of laboratory equipment
6) maintaining inventories of materials and samples
Critical competencies required
Knowledge:
Knowledge of biochemical assays (protein assays, ELISAs) (required)
Knowledge of mammalian cell culture (required)
Knowledge of protein purification (preferred)
Knowledge of data analysis and basic statistics (preferred)
Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) (preferred)
Knowledge of connective tissue biology (an advantage)
Skills:
3+ years experience in a research laboratory (technician or graduate student).
Good oral and written communication skills (required).
Experience performing ELISAs (required)
Experience performing mammalian Cell Culture (required)
Qualifications:
BSc in cell biology, biochemistry or related discipline (at a minimum)
MSc (preferred)
Must be able to work in Canada
