About the Team
PetSmart’s Canadian Home Office (CHO) is home to approximately 50 full-time associates who work in departments such as Human Resources, Merchandise Buying and Pricing, Replenishment, Marketing, Finance, Space Planning and more. The small but mighty team at the CHO supports the operations of 140+ PetSmart stores in Canada and works closely with counterparts at PetSmart’s global corporate headquarters located in Phoenix, Arizona. We also share the Canadian home office with our colleagues at PetSmart Charities of Canada—an independent, registered charity dedicated to reducing pet homelessness and supporting the bond between people and pets.
About the Job
The Digital Associate Buyer plays a key role in setting and implementing merchandise strategy into the digital shopping experience, driving digital sales through merchant initiatives, determining assortment selection, creating pricing strategy, and identifying promotional opportunities. This role includes directing digital vendor selection and leading the negotiations of product purchase terms in addition to developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with selected vendors supporting strategic digital tactics. Partners with the Senior Buyer in developing the digital strategy & contributing to an optimal shopping experience that drives conversion on site and product pages. The person in this position will work closely with Buying, Pricing, Customer Experience, Supply Chain, to deliver the KPIs/business expectations for PetSmart.ca.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:
Drive the digital P&L through product and offers, prioritizing merchant initiatives
Create basket driving opportunities and initiatives
Collaborates with store buying and planning teams to support category priorities, determine product lifecycle and digital exit strategy
Analyzes and manages the promotional plans for PetSmart.ca, including competitive reviews, CHO process & online pricing strategy to meet sales and margin goals.
Scope and launch web only line extensions with vendors and negotiate product costs, terms and shipping/returns issues
Create optimized product assortments, secure robust product content, and collaborate on customer solution
Partners with third party order broker to ensure seamless execution of SDF process including monitoring of system health and facilitation of relationship between vendor & third party
Validates & monitors SDF vendor compliance to transaction and inventory maintenance service level agreements
Facilitates supply chain new vendor on-boarding for SDF vendors
Provides support & resolution of customer care issues related to SDF orders including shortages, damages, and incorrect item shipments

Exhibit professional initiative and entrepreneurial drive
Strong Excel skills
Proficiency in Salesforce & Google Analytics an asset
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelors degree in Business, Merchandising, Marketing or equivalent work experience
2-4 years of Merchandising, E-Commerce, or Supply Chain experience
