POSITION TITLE: Community Engagement Worker Full Time indeterminate
South-East Ottawa Community Health Centre is an inter-disciplinary health, social services and community services agency. We are seeking a Community Engagement Worker to work primarily at our Hunt Club Riverside site.
The Community Engagement Worker supports action on community issues in South-East Ottawa, particularly in the Hunt Club Riverside area. The CEW works with community members and groups, committees and agencies to build community capacity. The incumbent will work closely with other members of an inter-disciplinary team to outreach and engage community members, provide practical assistance and support, build community capacity to address issues and assist community members to build support networks.
Engages community participation in identifying issues and solutions while promoting community ownership of decisions.
Outreach to partners, businesses and landlords in privately owned buildings
Develops, implements, monitors and evaluates strategies and programs to meet community needs.
Works collaboratively with the Community Services team and with colleagues from various agencies to most appropriately meet the community’s needs.
Supports the food security initiative
Provides group education and training to promote the development of leadership and advocacy skills amongst members of the community.
Works with communities to identify areas of potential conflict; assists in implementing conflict resolution methods.
Identifies and develops strategies to support local initiatives.
Participates in program evaluation.
Undergraduate degree from a recognized university in social sciences or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Training and experience in needs assessments, community organizing, group facilitation, conflict resolution, crisis management and program planning
Fluency in English. French and other languages a strong asset
Available to work evenings and the occasional weekend.
Salary Range: $50,378 to $59,277/year plus generous benefits. HOOPP eligible.
