Wittington Investments is a well-established private parent company of George Weston Limited. As the Corporate Accountant, you will play a key role within our Accounting/Finance team with our monthly, quarterly, and annual financial/operational reporting for multiple entities. Reporting to the Finance Manager, this is an opportunity to develop your career in a collaborative and dynamic environment. The ideal candidate for this role is organized, reliable and able to manage conflicting priorities within structured deadlines and deliverables.
Key Job Responsibilities :
Full cycle accounting for multiple entities, which include:
Initiating, preparing and processing journal entries.
Preparing key balance sheet account reconciliations and investigating/resolving differences.
Preparing continuity schedules (investments, fixed assets, prepaids etc.)
Preparing financial statement variance analysis.
Reviewing GL accounts for completeness and accuracy.
Completing all required month-end/quarter-end/year-end closing procedures.
Processing accounts receivable billings and cash receipts.
Processing payment runs via electronic fund transfers.
Reconciling AR and AP to cash receipts and disbursements and investigating any variances.
Prepare HST returns, Statistic Canada filings and other statutory filings.
Assist with preparation for the annual audits.
Maintain financial security by following internal controls.
Contribute to ad-hoc projects, as assigned by the Senior Accountant or the Manager.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
1-2 years in accounting/finance role or equivalent in relevant experience.
Possess strong financial accounting, analytical and problem-solving skills.
Must be highly organized, flexible, detail and results oriented.
Gives high priority to quality and has the ability to manage conflicting priorities.
Able to work independently with some direction and in a team environment.
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate ideas and actions to people at all levels in the organization.
Highly proficient with Microsoft Excel.
Good time management skills and reacts quickly to changing priorities.
Possess a high degree of professionalism, integrity, and respect for confidentiality.
Foundational understanding of information systems and IT controls is considered an asset.
Completed or working towards a CPA designation is considered an asset.
Experience with Microsoft Dynamics is considered an asset
