Position will be accountable for performing a variety of tasks to ensure a quality resident experience. Shift lengths vary from 3-7.75 paid hours. Must be avail. M-F, weekends and statutory holidays incl. either Christmas & Boxing Day or New Year’s Day. Opportunity may exist to be trained on the Cook 1 shift. Under the general supervision of a Food Services Supervisor, the successful candidate will use strong customer service, teamwork and organizational skills to: Prepare hot breakfast meal for 75 residents and patients. Follow Diet Guidelines and automated reports. Assemble trays in the kitchen. Tray delivery and pick up. Serve meals to residents in a dining room. Order and receive food and supplies. Complete ware washing duties. Safely operate industrial food service equipment. Adhere to safety, sanitation and food preparation standards in accordance with AHS policies and guidelines. Complete other food service duties as assigned The successful candidate will be able to: Work under pressure in a fast paced environment with speed and accuracy. Communicate effectively in English with residents, co-workers, and other hospital departments. Work as an effective, professional team member. Demonstrate a resident first approach as outlined in the AHS Foundational Strategies. Perform basic math functions to measure out food portions.
Description:
As a Food Service I, you will be responsible for performing a variety of routine tasks associated with basic food preparation in accordance with AHS standards and procedures. Your typical duties may include packaging and portioning food items, preparing food according to set guidelines and menus, serving meals to patients and customers and cleaning and sanitizing equipment, dishes, tables and serving areas.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent. Physically capable to lift food, supplies and equipment up to 46lbs and must be able to push/pull meal carts up to 250lbs. This position requires you to walk and stand on your feet for the duration of your shift.

Preferred Qualifications:
Food service experience. Experience in a hospital or long term care environment. Experience with inventory management; receiving deliveries, managing expiry dates and minimizing waste while utilizing “First in- First Out” procedures. Experience with Industrial Food Service Equipment. Food Safe certificate or equivalent. WHMIS training.
