Hours: Monday to Friday, Occasional weekend or evenings for Trade Shows/Events
Compensation: $130,000-$150,000 per annum

Summary:
The Director, Marketing & Communications, will lead the strategic planning, development, and execution of the marketing, branding, and communications initiatives for Miller Waste Systems. This role is responsible for conducting ongoing analysis, quality assurance, and training to ensure alignment with MWS brand standards and overall strategic objectives. Working collaboratively with the Marketing/Communications team, the Director will assist in the creation and drive the successful achievement of these KPIs and organizational goals.
The Director will oversee the development and execution of all marketing programs including development of a fully integrated e-commerce platform and data-driven pipeline marketing program. This role will also be responsible for our social media platform management and brand awareness, along with drafting and approving all internal and external communications. In addition, the role will provide strategic public relations expertise for external initiatives and serve as a senior advisor to leadership on communication strategies, events, stakeholder engagement, and community outreach activities.
Responsibilities:
As a Director, Marketing & Communications, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Marketing
- Provide corporate oversight of marketing and social media programs, setting strategy and KPI’s.
- Establish and implement all marketing, branding, social media, and communications policies.
- Explore and forecast new / emerging marketing and social media platforms and monitor trends.
- Manage and maintain integrity of MWS brand, brand audits, and brand updates as needed.
- Develop and execute strategic marketing plans to achieve corporate objectives for products and services.
- Develop and deliver short- and long-term marketing programs to achieve objectives regarding revenue, profitability, and market share.
- Oversee MWS advertising and promotional activities including print, electronic media, trade shows, direct mail, and signage.
- Develop, recommend and implement the marketing capital and operating budgets; monitor and take corrective action as appropriate to ensure the achievement of marketing objectives is within designated budgets.
- Work with the team to analyze marketing programs and adjust strategies and tactics to increase effectiveness and meet changing market and competitive conditions.
- Develop, analyze and pivot strategically to data analysis with respect to post-event reports and regular status reports on marketing programs, marketing trends, environmental scans, customer behaviour and service satisfaction.
- Demonstrates impact in the community by developing, sharing success stories from clients and employee profiles and working with community partners to promote the support MWS provides to local organizations.
- Strategically create an integrated data-driven platform encompassing e-commerce, website, and CRM activities.
- Lead trade show planning, execution, processes, analytics, and continuous performance optimization.
- Support People & Culture to create and execute a compelling recruitment strategy that attracts top talent and highlights the MWS culture, values, and opportunities.
Communications
- Develop and implement integrated marketing communication strategies and campaigns.
- Create and oversee the creation and implementation of compelling content for websites, blogs, email campaigns, newsletters, social media, presentations, and marketing materials.
- Collaborate with marketing, sales, design, and product teams to support campaign objectives.
- Manage and maintain the company’s communication calendar and campaign timelines.
- Coordinate public relations activities, media outreach, and press releases.
- Monitor campaign performance and prepare reports with insights and recommendations.
- Support event marketing, trade shows, webinars, and promotional activities.
- Ensure compliance with any internal or regulatory requirements for communications.
- Draft communications for MWS and for the President and executive team as needed.
- Conduct market and competitor research to identify communication opportunities and trends.
- Assist with internal communications and employee engagement initiatives when needed.
Competencies & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree Marketing and Communications, or related field preferred.
- 5-7 years’ recent experience in leading Marketing, Communications, and Branding Strategies.
- Understanding and apply marketing industry trends.
- Proven ability to build and coach teams within a defined structure, while translating vision into strategic initiatives and execution.
- Enthusiastic, team-oriented, and motivated to achieve goals.
- Strong interpersonal skills; ability to drive, establish and maintain positive relationships.
- Demonstrates strong business acumen, organizations skills, and resourcefulness.
- Well-developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver’s license with the flexibility to travel, as required.
