SUPERINTENDENT
The Superintendent is the primary on site authority responsible for leading, coordinating, and executing all field operations on active restoration and reconstruction projects. This role will coordinate multiple restoration projects with the PM and PA.
The Superintendent serves as the critical link between Project Management, field crews, subcontractors, and clients, translating project plans and scopes of work into clear on‑site directions. They are accountable for manpower planning, workflow sequencing, material coordination, and maintaining productivity while adapting to the dynamic and often time‑sensitive nature of restoration work. The role requires strong leadership, sound judgment, and the ability to make real‑time decisions in occupied, damaged, or high‑stress environments.
In addition to construction oversight, the Superintendent ensures all mitigation and reconstruction activities comply with IICRC standards, safety regulations, insurance requirements, and company quality benchmarks. They proactively identify risks, resolve field issues, and maintain detailed site documentation while upholding a professional and respectful presence with homeowners, business owners, property managers, insurance representatives, and consultants.
This role is responsible for delivering projects that meet safety, quality, schedule, and customer satisfaction objectives, while fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement on every job site.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Site Management & Supervision
- Manage all on‑site activities for restoration and reconstruction projects from mobilization through completion
- Supervise in‑house crews and subcontractors, ensuring productivity, workmanship, and adherence to project plans, scope, & industry standards
- Ensure job sites are kept clean, organized, and secure
- Work with Project Teams to develop and maintain site schedules
Project Execution & Coordination
- Coordinate schedules, manpower, equipment, and materials to meet project timelines
- Interpret scopes of work, drawings, and specifications to ensure accurate execution
- Communicate progress, delays, and field conditions to the Project Manager
Quality Control
- Perform regular inspections to ensure work meets company, insurance, and industry quality standards
- Identify and correct deficiencies promptly
- Verify completion of work before transitioning to next phases or final handover
Health & Safety
- Enforce company safety programs, OH&S regulations, and site‑specific safety plans
- Ensure proper use of PPE and compliance with environmental and hazardous material regulations
- Completion and accountability for daily Field Level Hazard Assessment
Client & Stakeholder Communication
- Act as a professional on‑site representative of the company
- Communicate respectfully with homeowners, business owners, property managers, adjusters, consultants, and inspectors
- Address on‑site questions or concerns and escalate issues when needed with support of the Project Manager
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain daily logs, site photos, and progress reports
- Support accurate project documentation for insurance and internal reporting purposes
- Oversight and monitoring of project budgets with the Project Manager
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Proven experience of 2 to 3 years in restoration industry as a supervisor (emergency, remediation, insurance, etc.)
- Journeyman carpentry ticket or 10+ years experience in construction
- IICRC Certifications (WRT, ASD, AMRT, FSRT, etc.) considered an asset
- Estimating and Xactimate Experience considered an asset
- Class 5 Drivers License with clean Driver’s Abstract
- Criminal Record Check clearance
- CSTS & WHMIS certification
Skills:
Strong knowledge of restoration processes (water mitigation, fire, mold, reconstruction)
Ability to read and interpret scopes, drawings, and work orders
Ability to travel to multiple job sites
Excellent client-facing and timely customer service skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels
Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-task skills
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365 including MS Office and SharePoint
Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire field teams
Strong critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills
Work Type: Full Time, In Office
Schedule: Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
Afterhours on-call rotation every 5 to 6 weeks for one week, 24/7
Travel: Primarily in Edmonton and area, sometimes out of town day trips
Salary: Starting $30+ per hour, depending on experience and qualifications
Vacation: Paid out on each paycheque
