We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Assistant to join our healthcare team. Duties
- Greet and check-in patients, ensuring a welcoming and professional environment at the front desk
- Assist with patient care activities, including preliminary eye measurements and visual acuity testing
- Manage electronic medical records using systems such as Optosys, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality
- Prepare exam rooms and assist optometrists during eye examinations and procedures
- Educate patients on optical products, lens options, and frame selections; support retail sales efforts
- Schedule appointments, follow-up visits, and coordinate patient flow efficiently
- Handle administrative tasks such as verifying insurance information and processing patient payments
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of clinical areas and equipment
- Support pediatrics patients with age-appropriate communication and care
Requirements
- Prior experience in a medical office setting, preferably within an optometry or ophthalmology practice
- Familiarity with electronic medical records systems such as Optosys or similar platforms
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology related to eye health and vision care
- Excellent patient care skills with a compassionate approach to diverse patient needs
- Experience with front desk operations, including scheduling and insurance verification
- Optical experience or background in retail sales is a plus, especially for assisting with frame selections and product education
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Strong communication skills to interact professionally with patients, staff, and vendors
- Knowledge of pediatric patient care is desirable but not required
