Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Part Time Nights Health Care Aide to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to patients in various settings, including assisted living facilities, nursing homes, and home health environments. Your primary focus will be on delivering high-quality care while ensuring the comfort and dignity of each individual you assist.
Job Duties
1. Personal Care: Assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and mobility.
2. Health Monitoring: Observe and report changes in residents’ physical and mental health to the Community Manager and/or Alberta Health Services Case Manager.
3. Measurements and Monitoring: Check temperatures, pulse, blood pressure, oxygen saturations, height and weights, and respirations. Document on flow sheets.
4. Medication Assistance: Administer or assist with prescribed medications as per Alberta HCA scope of practice and facility policies
5. Bowel and Urinary Care: Assist with personal hygiene after elimination activities, maintain continence with regular toilet routines, empty and change urinary catheter bags, obtain urine or bowel specimens for lab processing.
6. Respiratory Care: Observe and report changes in breathing. Assemble oxygen equipment, changing tanks, adjusting oxygen levels.
7. Meal Support: Serve meals, assist with feeding, and ensure dietary needs are met.
8. Household Support: Perform light housekeeping tasks such as laundry, cleaning, and maintaining a safe living environment.
9. Companionship: Provide emotional support and engage residents in social or recreational activities to enhance their quality of life.
10. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of care provided, including daily logs and incident reports.
11. Safety Compliance: Follow infection control protocols, workplace safety guidelines, and resident care plans.
12. Other Duties: Perform other duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Education, Training, and Experience
· Completion of a recognized Health Care Aide program in Alberta (required);
· Certification and active registration on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory (required);
· Completion of a Medication Administration Course (required);
· One year of experience in a healthcare or formal caregiving role (preferred);
· Strong English communication skills are required - both written and verbal (required);
· Basic computer skills – Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook (required);
· Intermediate First Aid and CPR certification (required); and
· Clear Vulnerable Sector – Criminal Record Check (required).
