Summary
The Architectural Technologist will work closely with Project Managers and clients in industrial design concepts and solutions. The successful individual will demonstrate a high degree of technical expertise, eagerness to learn, a willingness to work in a team environment, and a continuous drive and dedication for client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparation of engineering drawings utilizing 2D and 3D drafting and modeling software as well as office software to prepare contract documents.
- Provide listings of equipment and materials for the layout of new industrial construction or renovation projects.
- Collaborate with clients to ensure the delivery of concepts and designs that align with client needs, expectations, deadlines, and budgetary constraints.
- Ensure drawings account for client needs, building code requirements, relevant by-laws, and industry best practices.
- Address client and project issues and concerns as they arise.
- Conduct site visits as required for documentation of existing site conditions, as well as meetings required during course of construction.
- Preparation and review of contract administration documentation.
- Generate CAD and REVIT content to advance company standards.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
- Intermediate user of AutoCAD and REVIT (a portfolio of previous REVIT projects is required).
- Solid grasp of architectural theories, principles, and graphic standards.
- Advanced knowledge of building codes, specifications, and by-laws including applicability.
- Extensive knowledge and ability in the production of architectural drawings and documents.
- Strong understanding of architectural engineering principles and procedures.
- Must have own transportation and a willingness to travel.
Education and Experience
- Completion of a College or University diploma or degree in Architectural Engineering Technology.
- Minimum of two (2) years experience in a computer-aided drafting setting with a focus on architectural engineering.
- Drafting and related computer skills appropriate within industrial design is considered an asset.
- Certified or working towards certification with a provincial professional association for engineering technicians and technologists, such as OACETT or AATO.
- Previous experience in the Agri-food, beverage, and/or pharmaceutical industries is considered an asset.

- Strong customer service skills including presenting ideas and the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Understanding and ability in the detailed design of electrical systems.
- Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
- Proficiency in performing key responsibilities with minimal direction and oversight.
- Willingness to learn and train those in need.
- Ability to work in a high‐performance environment, deal with customers in a professional manner, and willingness to travel primarily within Ontario if required for projects.
