Role Summary

The Product Development Coordinator (PDC) supports the Product Development team in creating results-oriented organic skin care products that strengthen the Eminence brand and grow our Customers’ businesses. The PDC collaborates with and works alongside a second PDC to provide support to the Product Development team to assist with the research and development process for new product launches as well as for product re-development and special projects. The PDC is a team player with strong attention to detail and a passion for quality and innovation! The PDC will work under the direction of the New Product Development Manager, in close collaboration with other members of the Product Development team.

Reporting and Peer Relationships

The Product Development Coordinator reports to the New Product Development Manager and works closely with all members of Product Development team.

Roles and Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Market Research & Analysis

Collect market information and trends to support the Competitive Analysis for product launches and promotions
Research and purchase competitive products for reference during new product conceptualization
Assist with internal category analysis, summarizing information on existing Eminence products (e.g. features/advantages/benefits, rate of sale) to support recommendations for new product positioning, pricing and componentry
Coordinate product focus groups to provide insight into proposed product positioning, relatability and appeal
Formulation & Packaging Development

Coordinate internal focus group testing of product and packaging samples for user experience and alignment with desired specifications; collect and summarize feedback
Assist with product inspections (formulas and components) to ensure quality meets or exceeds Eminence standards
Draft Safety Data Sheets for all new products and update existing sheets as required for formulation changes
Maintain Eminence’s internal ingredients database
Test compatibility of new products with proposed componentry for fill and functionality (with direction from the product development managers and with the assistance of Supply Chain)
Create assembly and packaging standardization documents for products as required
Complete and file Cosmetic Notification Forms with Health Canada and assist with the filing of other regulatory documentation as required for new and updated formulations
Product Positioning & Education

Support the creation of a Project Scope to outline market positioning on products in development
Support the creation of training tools (including Power Points) to communicate upcoming launch information and present when required
Collaborate with the Product Development Manager to draft the FAQs for each launch
Draft allergen lists for all new products and update for existing products as needed
Project Management Support & Administration

Create and maintain a Project Plan outlining the details of each new product
Create the SKU list for new products and submit to Supply Chain
Maintain project management tools (e.g. Project Plans, Project Scopes, SKU lists)
Support the flow and efficiency of team meetings by taking notes and ensuring necessary agenda items are covered
Support with organizing vendor quotes, formulation and component samples, product testing results and order details
Support the creation of and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for projects and tasks within the Product Development team
Serve as the first point of contact for Product Development to both internal and external Customers
Reporting & Meetings

Attend the Weekly Marketing Meeting (with Marketing & Communications, Digital Experience and Product Development)
Attend and support weekly Product Development meetings
Book and attend 1:1 meetings with leader as needed
Chair, attend and assist other meetings as required
Assist with and attend the Eminence Organic Skin Care Annual Business Conference
Create, maintain and circulate meeting agendas, notes and action items for above meetings
Experience Required

College diploma or degree in Business and/or Marketing or an equivalent combination of training and experience
3+ years of progressively increasing experience in an administrative role, ideally in a Product Development team
Experience with consumer-packaged goods, ideally in the spa and/or personal care sector
Product research and development experience
Experience working with external vendors and cross-functional team members from: marketing, manufacturing, shipping, operations, QA/QC, sales
Sourcing, negotiation and purchasing experience is an asset
Project management experience is an asset
Quality control and quality assurance experience is an asset
Customer service or sales experience is an asset
Skills Required

Excellent verbal and written communication skills with superior grammar and composition skills
Ability to multitask and demonstrate excellent time management
Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
Superior analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on quality and best practices
Strong Customer service focus; seeks opportunities for continuous improvement
Ability to develop and sustain cooperative, productive working relationships
Proactive, highly organized and extremely detail oriented including strong note-taking and proofreading abilities
Knowledge of Project Management software (e.g. Asana) is an asset
