The UX/UI Designer is a full time opportunity at Advisor Websites, a software company recognized as one of the top 5 best workplaces in BC, and one of the 100 fastest growing companies in BC as recognized by Business in Vancouver.

This position is responsible for maintaining the user interface so that our products are user-friendly and intuitive to use. The UX/UI Designer will work with the Project Manager and stakeholders to define deadlines and scope for projects to make sure that all the necessary research, feedback gathering (user testing), wireframes, mockups and prototypes are well-defined ahead of time for developers. The key to success in this role is to ensure that the designs and experience match our specific user base and their needs.

Improve overall user experience through owning the interface design of the product
Research approaches for similar problems that we and/or our clients experience and propose potential solutions or approaches that fit our user base’s struggles and needs
Gather and evaluate requirements with internal and external stakeholders to validate ideas
Use sketches, wireframes, mockups and prototypes to clearly illustrate function and appearance of ideas
Present and defend your design decisions based on your own design decisions, research, and fundamental principles
Conduct user testing, if applicable, to validate design choices and approaches
Work with developers to ensure that the vision of the design is implemented properly
Proactively assess areas in the existing product that require ongoing improvement

About You:
Proven experience as a UI/UX Designer or similar role
Minimum certificate or diploma in Computer Science, UX/UI or relevant field required
Artistic eye for design, user experience, and the ability to think creatively while maintaining best practices and requirements
Great interpersonal skills for collaborating with developers and stakeholders
Interest in learning new tools, trends, and technologies
Business-minded approach to time, costs, and deadlines
Creative thinking to merge broad solutions with very specific issues
Experience with sketching, wireframing and prototyping
Up-to-date knowledge of design software like Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, or Sketch
Understanding of basic front-end languages: HTML, CSS, Javascript
