ON-CALL DOG WALKER — COURTICE TO WHITBY
Our award-winning dog walking business is looking for an energetic, motivated, and dedicated On-Call Dog Walker to join our team!

As an On-Call Dog Walker, you’ll provide exceptional care, exercise, and companionship to dogs in our community on an as-needed basis. You will primarily be called in when a current team member is unavailable, during particularly busy periods, or when additional coverage is needed.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, can adapt quickly, and is looking for flexible work while becoming part of a supportive and pet-loving team.
THE POSITION
Our dog walks generally take place between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend opportunities.
We provide both private and group walks with semi-structured basic training incorporated into our walks. You’ll have the opportunity to work with dogs of different breeds, sizes, personalities, energy levels, and needs.
You must be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions and managing multiple dogs safely and confidently.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Respond promptly and professionally to on-call requests when available.
- Walk and care for dogs of different breeds, sizes, personalities, and energy levels.
- Safely manage up to 3 dogs at a time on leash.
- Follow specific instructions provided by owners and the business owner, including feeding instructions, walking preferences, equipment, and individual care requirements.
- Follow all company protocols regarding leash safety, dog handling, emergencies, and client homes.
- Be comfortable handling and walking dog-reactive dogs.
- Monitor dogs closely for changes in behaviour, health, or comfort.
- Maintain a clean and safe walking environment, including picking up after dogs and being aware of potential hazards.
- Communicate professionally with clients and provide updates regarding their dog's walk, behaviour, and well-being.
- Keep accurate records of walks, including times, duration, routes, and any notable behaviours or concerns.
- Navigate independently to client homes throughout the service area.
- Arrive on time, prepared, and ready to work.
- Represent our business in a professional, trustworthy, and positive manner.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
- 21 years of age or older
- Minimum G2 driver's licence
- Reliable, insured vehicle
- Clean criminal record — a police check will be required
- Previous experience working with dogs
- Experience handling dog-reactive dogs is required
- Strong knowledge of canine behaviour and safe dog handling
- Ability to confidently handle multiple dogs on leash
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Reliable, trustworthy, punctual, and professional
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently
- Comfortable navigating to client homes throughout the service area
- Able and willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Very flexible weekday and weekend availability
- Most importantly, you must genuinely love animals!

SERVICE AREA
We are looking for someone who lives anywhere between Bowmanville and Whitby and can reliably travel throughout our service area.
