Position Summary:
The Electrical Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for electrical projects by analyzing drawings, specifications, and other documentation. This role plays a critical part in securing new business and ensuring project profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review project plans, specifications, and bid documents to determine scope of work
- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for materials, labor, and equipment
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes
- Perform quantity take-offs and pricing
- Identify potential risks, value engineering opportunities, and cost-saving measures
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients as needed
- Maintain and update cost databases and estimating software
- Assist in bid submissions and post-bid follow-ups
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in electrical estimating (or related field)
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, codes, and construction processes
- Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., Accubid, Bluebeam, or similar)
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Detail-oriented with strong time management abilities
Preferred Qualifications:
- Electrical trade certification or degree in electrical engineering/technology
- Experience with large-scale commercial or industrial projects
- Knowledge of local codes and regulations
