About the Role:
YMCA Experience team is often the first point of contact for both new and returning members, playing an essential role in creating a welcoming and inclusive environment. YMCA Experience Ambassadors help build strong relationships by greeting members and visitors, offering assistance, and sharing helpful information about our programs and services. Ambassadors in this role are customer-focused, enthusiastic communicators, and comfortable engaging with people of all ages and backgrounds.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor the access station at the Y Experience Desk, warmly welcoming and farewelling all members and guests. This high-traffic area can be fast-paced, requiring volunteers to be confident, adaptable, and comfortable multitasking while delivering exceptional customer service.
- Circulate throughout the entire facility continuously and take action to communicate and build relationships with members while providing exceptional customer service
- Relay information and answer questions about YMCA memberships, programs and services
- Identify and take action to address any minor concerns with facility cleanliness, maintenance, participant behaviour and safety
- Support member engagement initiatives such as Listen360 surveys, collecting anecdotal feedback and special events
- Support with giving building tours for prospective members, asking probing questions to learn about their wants and needs and providing tailored membership and program information
- Promote and raise awareness about the YMCA’s charitable status, fundraising efforts and community impact
- Demonstrate and role model personal understanding of and appreciation for the mission, vision, and values of the YMCA
Qualifications:
- Minimum 15 years of age
- Able to obtain a Police Information Check and Vulnerable sector check
- First Aid & CPR-C is an asset
- Flexible work schedule – including early mornings, evenings, weekends and stat holidays
- Friendly, enthusiastic and passionate about the YMCA mission
- Experience working with others in a customer service capacity is an asset
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, problem solving and multitasking skills
- A love of relationship building paired with an ability to make all feel like the Y is a place they can belong
