Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive mechanical knowledge and experience in maintaining and repairing a variety of heavy equipment, including excavators, cranes, and farm machinery. This role requires a strong understanding of both mechanical and electrical systems, as well as the ability to provide exceptional customer service. The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will work in a fast-paced environment, ensuring that all equipment is functioning efficiently and safely.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment, including excavators, cranes, forklifts, and other industrial machinery.
- Utilize hand tools and power tools to troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues.
- Conduct inspections to identify potential problems and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Read and interpret schematics and technical manuals to diagnose issues accurately.
- Execute welding tasks as needed for repairs or modifications.
- Maintain accurate records of service performed on equipment.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding repairs and maintenance needs.
- Assist with assembly and disassembly of equipment as required.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion of projects.
Experience
- Previous mechanic experience in a dealership or similar environment is preferred.
- Familiarity with heavy equipment operation and maintenance practices.
- Experience working with Caterpillar machinery is a plus.
- Knowledge of HVAC systems is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting as required by the job duties.
- Proficiency in using various hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems related to heavy equipment repair is beneficial.
