Your Opportunity
This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with an accounting degree (required) and 3-5 years of accounting experience. Hotel accounting experience is a plus (preferred). You'll be instrumental in ensuring accuracy and efficiency within our financial operations, handling more complex tasks, and providing valuable insights to optimize our processes and procedures. While this role does not involve direct people management, you will be considered a leader within the department, guiding best practices and contributing to the overall success of the team.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain general ledgers and ensure all financial transactions are recorded accurately and timely.
- Review and reconcile bank statements, credit card activity, and balance sheet accounts.
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring timely payments.
- Reconcile intercompany accounts and resolve discrepancies.
- Perform monthly close for each property, including preparing financial statements.
- Review and support Staff Accountants' work ensuring accurate financial reporting.
- Analyze variances between actual results and budget/forecast.
- Assist with year-end audit preparation and support external auditors as needed.
- Collaborate with operations and management to ensure financial accuracy and transparency.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting.
- Ensure adherence to GAAP and USALI and company accounting policies.
- Identify and implement new accounting systems or process enhancements.
- Maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity.
- Responsible for complex billing, reconciliation, and invoicing assigned as needed
- Act as a consultant in the documentation and improvement of complex accounting processes
- Creates portfolio wide reviews and reconciliations for complex accounts ensuring portfolio-wide accuracy
What You'll Bring:
- Accounting degree required.
- 3-5 years of hotel accounting experience preferred, with a track record of handling increasingly complex financial responsibilities.
- A natural leader with a high attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- A self-starter with a curious mind and a knack for auditing, resolving discrepancies, and proactively identifying and implementing process improvements.
- Ability to advise on and develop processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and financial control.
- Strong understanding of standard accounting procedures and terminology, with an emphasis on complex financial transactions.
- Excellent Excel skills and broad utilization of various accounting software and systems.
- English proficiency is a must.
Location & Eligibility:
This is a fully remote position open to candidates residing in the United States or Canada. Candidates must be authorized to work in their country of residence.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
