Elevate Gymnastics Club is a proud not-for-profit organization deeply rooted in the Kenora, Ontario community. Our mission is to provide engaging and enriching programs for children and youth while fostering confidence, resilience, and a lifelong love of movement through gymnastics. As our Invitational Stream continues to grow, we are seeking enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and dedicated Competitive Coaches to join our team. Whether you are an experienced NCCP-certified coach or a former gymnast looking to begin your coaching journey, we encourage you to apply.
Our Invitational Stream includes developmental, Xcel, and Canadian Competitive Program (CCP) athletes. We currently train athletes in CCP Levels 1-6 and Xcel Silver through Platinum, with opportunities to help shape the continued growth of our competitive program.
Summary of the Role
Competitive Coaches are responsible for planning and delivering safe, progressive, and engaging training sessions that emphasize proper skill development, strong fundamentals, and long-term athlete success. Coaches work collaboratively, under a broader program structure, to help athletes achieve their individual goals while fostering confidence, sportsmanship, and a positive team culture.
Coaches are compensated for both on-floor coaching time and lesson planning time, recognizing the importance of thoughtful preparation in delivering high-quality training.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan age- and level-appropriate lesson plans and training progressions to support athlete development and seasonal goals.
- Deliver safe, effective, and engaging training sessions appropriate for each athlete's age, ability, and competitive pathway.
- Teach and reinforce proper gymnastics technique, emphasizing strong fundamentals and quality skill progression.
- Provide spotting, corrections, and constructive feedback to support athlete development.
- Assist in developing training plans and seasonal goals in collaboration with the Head Coach and coaching team.
- Monitor athlete progress and communicate regularly with athletes and families regarding development, expectations, and achievements.
- Prepare athletes for evaluations, competitions, training camps, and other competitive events.
- Attend competitions, training camps, clinics, and other program events as required.
- Work collaboratively with fellow coaches to ensure consistency in athlete development and program delivery.
- Maintain complete vigilance while on duty, prioritizing athlete safety at all times.
- Complete administrative responsibilities including attendance, incident reports, athlete evaluations, and other required documentation.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized training environment, ensuring equipment is properly set up and maintained.
- Report all concerns, accidents, injuries, and incidents to the Executive Director or Head Coach promptly.
- Understand, adhere to, and enforce all club Policies & Procedures, Safe Sport requirements, Confidentiality Guidelines, Emergency Procedures, and Health & Safety Standards.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and required NCCP education.
- Opportunities to coach camps, clinics, choreography sessions, birthday parties, or recreational programs may also be available.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support club operations.
Requirements:
- Previous gymnastics coaching experience or competitive gymnastics experience.
- NCCP Gymnastics Foundations certification (Artistic Gymnastics) or higher is considered a strong asset. Candidates with a gymnastics background who are willing to obtain NCCP certification are encouraged to apply.
- Passion for athlete development and teaching proper gymnastics fundamentals.
- Strong knowledge of artistic gymnastics skill progressions and safe coaching practices.
- Positive, enthusiastic, and professional attitude with excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Strong communication, organization, and time management abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a coaching team.
- Successful completion of a Clean Criminal Record Check with Judicial Matters (Level 2), or Vulnerable Sector Check (18+ only).
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain.
Compensation & Logistics
Availability/Schedule: Part-time and casual positions available. We welcome coaches with any level of availability, from one training day per week to five! Evening and/or weekend availability is required. Our Invitational Stream currently trains on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, with schedules assigned based on coach availability and athlete needs. Additional opportunities may be available for competitions, camps, clinics, recreational classes, parties, and special events.
Wage: Competitive hourly wage based on experience, certification level, and coaching qualifications.
