We are building a senior Owner's Consultant team for a major public sector ERP transformation program. This is the most senior role on our team -- you will be the client's primary independent advisor and the single point of accountability for all deliverables from day one.
You are not here to implement anything. You are here to protect the client's interests, lead a focused advisory team, and produce outputs that will withstand Steering Committee, Council, and audit scrutiny. The core Stage 1 deliverable is translating approximately 500 defined business capabilities into structured technical requirements that will form the foundation of a Systems Integrator procurement process.
Stage 1 runs August to November 2026 and is firm and funded. Stage 2 and beyond are subject to budget approval and are not guaranteed. If you are looking for a long-term implementation role, this is not it. If you are a seasoned OC professional who wants to do meaningful, high-stakes advisory work for a large public sector client, read on.
What You Will Do
- Lead all Stage 1 phases from program mobilization through to completion and Stage 2 handoff
- Serve as the primary day-to-day contact for the client's ERP Program Core Team across IT, Finance, HR, and Supply Chain
- Chair or co-chair Steering Committee sessions, decision gates, and key governance forums throughout Stage 1
- Oversee the translation of 500 business capabilities into structured technical requirements, ensuring outputs are procurement-ready and defensible
- Manage the OC team including resource allocation, quality oversight, and performance of all named personnel
- Contribute to the November 2026 budget request documentation that determines whether Stage 2 proceeds
- Escalate risks and issues objectively and promptly, maintaining full independence from all vendor interests at all times
- Be available to support Council queries during November 2026 budget deliberations -- attendance at Council sessions is not expected but responsiveness is
What You Bring
Required
- 10 or more years in senior ERP advisory or Owner's Consultant roles -- not Systems Integrator delivery

- At least three engagements where you served as OC Lead or senior independent advisor on ERP programs
- Track record of producing deliverables that meet the standard required for executive decision-making and audit scrutiny
- Strong executive presence -- you will present to Steering Committees and be available for Council queries
- No conflict of interest with major ERP vendors (SAP, Oracle, Workday, PeopleSoft, Microsoft)
Nice to Have
- Experience contributing to public sector Council-level budget submissions or business cases
- Familiarity with PeopleSoft and modern SaaS or hybrid ERP architectures
- Prior involvement in ERP market scans and vendor selection processes
- Alberta or Western Canada public sector experience
Important Disclosure
This is a non-negotiable conflict-of-interest control. Please consider this carefully if your firm or practice area has an interest in future ERP implementation work.
