About this opportunity:
We are on the lookout for a dedicated 5G NR Senior Baseband L2 Software Architect to join our L2 Architecture team at Ericsson. This engaging role involves ensuring the implementation and architectural readiness of the UPC Scheduler to support the planned roadmap for new features being concurrently developed in both EMCA’s purpose-built and virtualized RAN solutions. The UPC Scheduler is a crucial area within Ericsson's baseband software architecture, so a deep understanding of 3GPP wireless protocol and the Baseband software/hardware architecture is essential for success in this position. Additional responsibilities include contributing to the verification strategy, particularly at the code and sub-module/domain level and addressing interactions and coexistence with other features. Daily tasks involve high-level decision-making that impacts hundreds of Ericsson employees globally.
What you will do:

Actively engage in the architecture discussions for UPC and take the initiative to drive the concurrent development of UPC Scheduler functions for both EMCA purpose-built and virtualized RAN solutions.

Responsible for UPC domain product development roadmap, develop future-proof SW for UPC.

Analyzing and proposing new solutions/improvements in the domain to ensure efficient implementation.

Define and carry out the realization of SW design principles in UPC domain, including domain design rules, test strategy and competence development plan for the domain.

Actively participate of Ericsson EMCA & GPP design forums with insight on both SW and HW requirements

Ensure long term architecture guidelines are considered.

Feasible to design and code very complex algorithmic solutions

Ensure Feature Interaction impacts

Securing Ericsson’s technical leadership by monitoring industry trends and research related projects. In addition, utilize this knowledge by spreading it throughout the organization.

Ensure that the cross functional software implementation teams develop high quality software

Interface to other domains and participate in technical meetings as UPC representative
The skills you bring:
-
5+ year in baseband software architecture with particularly in 3+ years in UPC domain.

Bachelor’s or preferably master’s degree majored in wireless communication.
-
Real-Time Software development specially in a multi-core deployment scenario

Systemization or implementation of scheduler, QoS, HARQ, DL link adaptation, carrier aggregation

Experienced with the systemization or implementation of NR Scheduler functions

Understand 3GPP standards & RRM functions

Good Communication and Presentation skills

Excellent collaboration and teamwork skills

Well-crafted programming skills in C or C++ Implemented software
-
Be technical with the ability to identify issues from sophisticated software systems

Good inter-person skill to co-ordinate technical forum inside UPC domain

Demonstrated a proficiency in critical thinking and lateral problem solving

Excellent communication in verbal and written English

Deep knowledge on 3GPP standards, specifically in NR protocols and systemization of complex NR features.

MSc level in Wireless Protocol/5G User Plan Control

Comfortably discuss wireless communication theory
