We are looking for an experienced Electrician to join our team in Utopia, ON (just outside of Barrie, ON). The Electrician is responsible for planning, laying-out, assembling, installing, testing, troubleshooting and repairing electrical wiring, fixtures, control devices and other related equipment or machines according to relevant specifications and electrical codes.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Demonstrated Electrical and basic Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot and provide routine maintenance as required
- Demonstrated ability to read electrical schematics and drawings
- Thorough Knowledge of Low and Medium Voltage Distribution, programmable logic controller, variable frequency oscillator, motors and the use of computer
- Familiarity with standard maintenance procedures, preventative maintenance schedules, basic documentation, and proper safety techniques
- Ensure that equipment is in good working order to prevent disruption of activities and reduce time
- Troubleshoot machine breakdowns and provide preventive maintenance services
- Detect, isolate, and identify irregularities and malfunctions in machinery and equipment
- Plan, lay-out, assemble, install, test, troubleshoot and repair electrical wiring, fixtures, control devices and related equipment in buildings and other structures
- Schedule, undertake and record periodic maintenance on all electrical equipment, components, and installations to identify hazards, defects and the need for adjustment or repair in compliance with codes and specifications
- Schedule and prioritize assigned tasks with strong adherence to deadlines
- Prepare sketches or read and interpret blueprints to determine the location of wiring and equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes
- Provide prompt response to inquiries if there is a breakdown, and resolve the issue as quickly as possible
Skills, Education & Experience
- Post-Secondary Education in Electrician and Electrical Programs
- College education / College of Trades (Trades specific) and/or apprenticeship
- 3-5 years’ experience as a licensed Industrial Electrician
- Valid Interprovincial Red Seal Electrician License (442A OR 309A)
