Cargo Sampler / Plant operator
Certispec Services Inc. provides cargo sampling, inspection and risk management services to the Canadian commodities industry.
We provide onsite supervision, sampling, and quality control for shippers and receivers of cargos that ship product through the Port of Prince Rupert.
What we are looking for:
Certispec is currently looking for an energetic, bright, enthusiastic, and self-motivated person to assist in quality control and sampling duties.
What you’ll be doing:
Sampling coal
· Samples the cargo loaded to the vessel and aids in the reduction, preparation, and distribution of the samples to third party laboratories;
· Receives on the job training in the correct methods for drawing representative samples from lots of commodities;
· Assists in the cleaning of the sampling areas, sampling plant and related work areas.
Qualifications
· Valid driver’s license and personal vehicle to get to and from the worksite
· Ability to lift and control weights up to 16 kilos / 35 lbs.
· Possesses the ability to work together as a team and independently;
· Has excellent interpersonal skills is out going and trustworthy;
· Possesses the ability to think logically and is mechanically inclined;
Work Environment
· The work may involve regular and recurring work at all hours of the day or night. The work duties are performed in an industrial environment and may be conducted exposed to the elements (outside) under varying weather conditions.
· Shift work and staggered start times is a part of the position. Most common shifts are; Day shifts (0800-1630), Afternoon shifts (1630-0100), and Graveyard shifts (0100-0800).
Compensation
· The compensation starts at $23.00 per hour, with additional premium for graveyard shifts.
· Wage increase after successful probation period and regular performance reviews Increases in pay are based on skill level and experience gained.
· The position’s shifts are flexible and can range from one shift per week (part time) to up to four+ shifts per week depending on the employees availability and desire to work. This can be a part time or approach a full-time equivalent position
· Overtime available and can be a regular part of employment depending on market conditions.
