General Overview:
Almor Testing Services Ltd. (Almor) is a geotechnical and materials testing consultant, based in Calgary, Alberta. Almor provides services to land developers, general contractors, municipalities, and other consultants. Project types that Almor participates in include residential and commercial developments, and civil infrastructure upgrades/improvements. Almor’s onsite role varies but can include preliminary geotechnical investigations, consulting, and QC/QA testing of materials. Employees hired will perform field and laboratory testing of soil, concrete, and asphalt materials, and be expected to keep accurate and organized records of test results, calibrations, site observations and billable hours.
Daily Activities:
Laboratory Work (Soils and concrete) - Technicians will perform ASTM and CSA test procedures, record keeping and facilities/equipment maintenance (light duty cleaning, equipment calibrations). Lab tests on soils are typically part of an overall process used to identify soil types and engineering properties, which are then used to develop project specifications or confirm compliance with specifications. Lab work with concrete involves technical measurements, record keeping and testing of compressive strength specimens.
Field Work (Soils, concrete, and asphalt) - Technicians will participate in compaction monitoring/testing during civil construction, which involves the use of a nuclear moisture/density gauge to test the compaction of soil and asphalt. Concrete testing involves slump and air tests, as well as the casting of compressive strength samples. Technicians will effectively be working with clients and contractors in a QC/QA role to ensure compliance with project specifications. This will involve following ASTM and CSA test methods, awareness of project specs and standards, as well as record keeping and communication of results to clients, contractors, and supervisors.
Desired Qualities/Skills:
- Attention to detail

Almor Work Culture:
Almor has been providing the construction industry materials testing services for nearly 50 years. We provide a casual environment where technicians can earn overtime from week to week, while still being able to have time off for recreation. Throughout the year there are opportunities to socialize at events held at the office (BBQ’s, work socials etc...). Long-term connections with clients and industry partners often made, making for a fairly social work atmosphere.
Almor’s supervisors are keen to provide a challenging, safe, and informative work environment.
