Crew Leader / Sandblaster – Commercial Driver

Mobile Sandblasting Inc. is looking for an experienced, dependable Crew Leader / Sandblaster to join our team.
This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who is comfortable leading a crew, operating industrial sandblasting equipment, and driving company commercial vehicles with trailers to and from job sites.
We work on a wide variety of industrial, commercial, and specialty projects throughout Southern Ontario. We are looking for someone who can take responsibility for a job in the field, keep the crew productive and safe, communicate professionally with customers, and help ensure the work is completed properly and efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a field sandblasting crew.
- Drive company commercial vehicles and tow equipment trailers to and from job sites.
- Set up and operate abrasive blasting equipment.
- Perform industrial and commercial sandblasting.
- Coordinate daily work activities and assign tasks to crew members.
- Ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to company standards.
- Conduct equipment inspections and identify maintenance or repair issues.
- Complete daily job documentation and communicate job progress to management.
- Communicate professionally with customers, site supervisors, and other contractors.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Ensure employees follow company procedures and site-specific safety requirements.
- Assist with loading, unloading, cleanup, containment, and other physical job-site duties as required.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of sandblasting / abrasive blasting experience.
- Previous experience leading or supervising a crew is strongly preferred.
- Valid Ontario G driver's licence is required.
- A clean driving abstract is required.
- Minimum 3 years of experience driving a company commercial vehicle while towing a trailer is required.
- Must have a valid MOL-approved Working at Heights certificate.
- Must be confident and competent towing, backing up, parking, and maneuvering commercial vehicles with trailers.
- Strong understanding of job-site safety.
- Mechanically inclined and comfortable troubleshooting equipment in the field.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to take responsibility for a crew and job site.
- Able to work independently without constant supervision.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills.
- Able to perform physically demanding work and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Willing to work at different job sites throughout Southern Ontario.
- Must have reliable transportation to our shop.
The Right Person
We are looking for someone who takes ownership of their work.
The successful candidate should be capable of arriving at a job site, understanding what needs to be accomplished, organizing the crew, operating the equipment alongside them, solving problems as they arise, and making sure the job is completed properly.
This is not a desk-supervisor position. Our Crew Leaders work alongside their crews and are expected to be capable sandblasters themselves.
Experience with industrial coatings, compressors, blasting pots, air systems, heavy equipment, construction, or industrial maintenance would be considered an asset.
Compensation & Benefits
- $30.00–$40.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
